Someday, I'll need to revisit all these films and write about why I found this year so depressing. Coming right after 1998, another alienating year, really started to put me off movies for the next decade. I'm baffled that so many people consider this one of, if not THE greatest year for cinema. I guess they just loved the things I found so repugnant.
