Comically inept Italian / Spanish co-production about an experiment with deadly bacteria that goes wrong and leaves a noted research scientist deformed and deranged. The infected man runs amok while the military, led by David Warbeck as a character named Captain Kirk, must try to stop him before the whole town is infected. What's more comical is this low-budget EuroHorror quicky, which features one of the most phoned-in climaxes ever, has the exact same premise and narrative beats the '90s thriller Outbreak. But since it lacks movie stars, competent screenwriters, a Hollywood budget, and a skilled director, the similarities end there. Yet, with all the skill and production value found in Outbreak, Wolfgang Petersen's film is only marginally more successful than Tonino Ricci’s Panic.
