Jon Wright and Kevin Lehane's low-budget monster movie about blood-sucking aliens that invade an island off the coast of Ireland is a lot of fun. Richard Coyle plays an alcoholic Island cop who resents his new partner, a workaholic teetotaler played by Ruth Bradley. The two soon become close when they discover they are the only hope of saving the island from the aliens is to keep all the inhabitants inebriated so that their blood with not be appealing to the creatures. It's a crackin' good premise for an Irish sci-fi comedy, and the fine cast, lovely locations, and more than credible effects make for an enjoyable ride. But the by-the-numbers script and lack of memorable set-piece leave one wishing for more.
