Andrea Arnold returns to the vibe that made her Fish Tank such a success, this time by exploring the American road via young, marginalized youth. Staring another young discovery, the striking Sasha Lane, American Honey captivates with its largely unknown cast of young folks playing wayward youth travelling in a quasi-family structure selling magazine subscriptions for a stern young matriarch (Riley Keough). The picture's rambling, undefined quality is both a strength and a weakness. It's Larry Clark meets Terry Malick.
