Do we really need another Vincent van Gogh biopic? Well, Dafoe's deep commitment to the ecstasy, confusion, and belief of the artist in his final days make Schnabel's fragmented exploration worthwhile. Delhomme's intentionally frenetic camera frustrates but his lighting is superb.
