Surviving Progress is one of those documentaries where a bunch of talking heads saying (what at first seem like) profound observations are intercut with footage that kind of goes with what they’re talking about and about half an hour in you realize the people are not saying much of anything and the few who are making points are not offering any real incite or thesis.  It is not as terrible as Tom Shadyac’s documentary I Am, also released this year, or 2006’s What the #$*! Do We Know!? but it’s pretty bad.
