In her directorial debut, Mimi Cave crafts a satisfying thriller from Lauryn Kahnabout's clever screenplay about the horrors of modern dating. Daisy Edgar-Jones plays Noa, a single gal who finally meets a seemingly nice guy named Steve at a grocery store. After their first successful date, Noa accepts Steve's invitation to a romantic weekend getaway, despite the concerns of her best pal Mollie (Jonica T. Gibbs). Mollie is right to feel like Steve may be too good to be true, as Noa soon discovers that her new guy has some pretty unappetizing tastes. Sebastian Stan plays the villain with Chris-Sarandon-levels of relish, making this small horror indie stand out amongst the crowd. But it's not just Stan; this picture is well-written, well-cast, well-shot, and delivers magnificently on its unsettling, slow-burn premise.
