Tilda Swinton plays a Scottish orchidologist living in Colombia trying to get to the bottom of a mysterious sound that apparently only she can hear in the first English language picture (and first with a major star) from Thai writer-director Apichatpong Weerasethakul. Every bit as oblique and meditative as his other works of “slow cinema,” Memoria lives up to its title, Apichatpong’s rep, and Neon’s unique theatrical-only roadshow release strategy. ‘Nuff Said.
