Garfield commits 110%, making Jonathan Larson seem even more insufferable a mediocrity than he probably was, in Miranda’s energetic adaptation of Larson's semi-autobiographical one-man show. Musical biopics about ShowBiz can be rough going but a musical biopic about the generic early years of the "one of a kind" young man who would later "revolutionize" musical theater with Rent, is several bridges too far.
