Sydney Sweeney is inspired casting as a virginal American noviciate who joins a remote Italian convent and discovers she has miraculously become pregnant. Director Michael Mohan and writer Andrew Lobel borrow liberally from the iconic religious horror movies of the '70s, but their film never feels derivative. Effectively creepy, with nice supporting turns from Benedetta Porcaroli, Álvaro Morte, and Dora Romano. Good blasphemous fun.
